Barking Riverside presents: a tasting with Mammoth Beer

On Friday 15th March, Barking Riverside is set to host an exciting pop-up beer tasting event in partnership with Mammoth Beer, giving residents the chance to try some locally brewed beer from a well-established East London Brewery.

Mammoth Beer is a microbrewery and tap room located under the arches in Leytonstone, created by Mark Pether, a brewing veteran from Hackney Wick’s renowned Crate Brewery, and Vikram Gudi, a musician and sound engineer from Mammoth Audio. The duo found themselves distanced and thirsty during lockdowns, which saw them set up Mammoth Beer – taking to the streets of East London to partake in some socially distant beer tastings.

Now a firm favourite on the local scene in Leytonstone, Mammoth Beer will be popping up in Barking Riverside for one night only, inviting residents to taste their handcrafted selection of beers, followed by the chance to buy independently brewed ales and lagers from the bar.

Held at The Wilds at Barking Riverside from 6.30pm, guests will be welcomed with a free drink on arrival, followed by a beer tasting session led by the Mammoth Beer team. The craft beer connoisseurs will take guests through the art of brewing, teaching them about the history, ingredients and production of beer, as well as different styles, hops, yeast, and beer presentation.

Ahead of the event, Milo Oddi, head of sales at Mammoth Beer, said: “We’re looking forward to meeting the Barking Riverside Community! Here at Mammoth Beer, we’re all about doing our part to save the planet, one sip at a time. We’re passionate about recycling our spent grain, and we’ve partnered up with local companies like Bio-collectors and Lick & Mix to ensure that our waste is put to good use. Plus, we prioritise the use of products that don’t rely on single-use plastics, and we work closely with the council to ensure that as much waste as possible goes to renewable sources. Mammoth Beer takes pride in using locally sourced ingredients and crafting beer that hits all the right notes, drawing on over a decade of brewing experience and a background in London’s vibrant arts and music scenes.”

Guests must be over 18 to attend. Tickets must be purchased in advance, costing £8 and available to purchase on Eventbrite. Follow @barkingRiverside on Instagram for more details.
